Twins host unique tournament
By: Charles van der MeijsTwins Sporting Club from Oosterhout (NETH) will host a unique tournament this summer: for the first time in Europe it organizes the COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE EUROPE.
From July 7 - 14 ,2012 four teams with talented players from thirteen countries in the age up till 23 years will participate.
The concept of the Collegiate Baseball League is taken from the States, where talented players can show their skills to the scouts. For this year four teams of fourteen players play at the "Slotbosse Toren" complex.
'If it is a succes Twins will grow in the number of teams during the next years' , says Jan Maarten Kops (44), one of the founders of this happening. At this moment over 120 players signed in so far. If they are drafted they pay their own travelling costs, the organization takes care of the rest.
The countries that participate: Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Australia, United States, Hungary, Bulgaria and Switzerland.
The teams:
Admirals: coach Martijn Meeuwis (NETH). Ex player Dutch National Team. WBC 2009.
Bombers: coach Paul Bun (NETH), youth coach Twins and Little League district team.
Cavaliers: coach Bill Froberg (USA/NETH), Ex coach Dutch Headclass and National Teams
Falcons: guest coaches: Filip Vandermeiren (BEL) and Tony Klarberg (SWE)
Saturday March 24 on live internet you can see the first draft of the players from the Twins clubhouse.
