Danny Arribas signed for Pittsburgh Pirates
The Dutch player Danny Arribas (18) signed last weekend for the Pittsburgh Pirates and is leaving for the Dominic Republic to play in the Rookie League. Arribas played his juveniles years for Twins Oosterhout. After that Martijn Nijhoff, director of Bixie Baseball Academy, took care of the talented ballplayer. Now, six years later, Nijhoff (also head of the talented program in The Netherlands) as scout of the Pirates and the
European head scout Tom Randolph, made him an offer to become prof. Two weeks ago Arribas flew on Monday to the Dominican Republic, showed his tools on Tuesday and flew back on Wednesday. The third baseman / catcher did okay in this 'one afternoon' try out. He convinced the scouts over there and signed a contract. He is waiting for the call to set sail to the Dominic Republic again after the paperwork is done and in order.
