EURO 2012 – TV Rights
The main CEB event for this year – the European Championship 2012 in Rotterdam, Haarlem & Utrecht - is approaching quickly. That is why I would like to inform you shortly about the agreements between CEB and KNBSB/LOC and the basic facts in regards to TV coverage. I had a meeting with the KNBSB/LOC in July and even if not all details are fixed yet we agreed on the following important facts:
a. It is possible for any country to bring their own production team to produce the game(s) wanted, excluding the games in the second round and final played in Rotterdam. For this own production CEB gives the production rights for free. The only obligation that comes with it would be to give the foreign production for free to KNBSB/LOC for (live) streaming on the host website of the tournament.
b. The KNBSB has obligations to NOS as Host Broadcaster for Baseball and Softball Tournaments in the Netherlands.
c. CEB gives KNBSB/LOC the TV & live streaming internet rights for free. Live streaming will be accessible for everybody on the tournament website.
d. In the first round of the tournament NOS will produce items of the Dutch Team for Dutch Television to promote the tournament and (Dutch) Baseball.
e. In the second round of the tournament NOS will produce all games of the Dutch Team and the final of the EC 2012 (Dates: September 13-16). They will show summaries of the second round games and the final live on Dutch TV, if possible.
f. If any other country wants to have a summary or the final live on television in their country, please contact NOS, Joost de Vries (telephone: 0031653149190) to negotiate the price for TV rights. Further agreements should be done between your country and NOS; CEB does not want to be involved in your deals, however, we will be glad if you keep us informed.
