Little League Congress in Houston

The 24th International Congress of Little League was held on April 13-16 with the presence of some European countries. 473 delegates from 72 countries were present during the Congress.
In total, the Congress hosted approximately 1400 persons including assistant district administrators and staff from Little League at the Hilton Americas hotel in downtown Houston, USA.
From the Little League EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa region) there were District Administrators present from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany (US bases), Italy, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, Sweden, and Ukraine present, as well as Tomasz Malek and Beata Kaszuba from the Little League EMEA center in Kutno, Poland. 72 different countries in total were in attendance.
During the Congress days, rule changes were discussed and voted upon, and there were several education sessions available for all delegates and their assistants. During the lunch breaks, awards were given to various persons for their hard work and dedication. During the chairman's luncheon on Monday, which concluded the Congress session, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush with his wife Barbara attended and were recognized as "baseball's first family". Also, present President George W Bush sent a video message from the White House, congratulating all Little League volunteers for a great job in developing baseball.
Also, nine new Field Directors for the Little League International board of directors were appointed, and for the EMEA region the new Field Director will be Giuseppe "Beppe" Guilizzoni from Italy who were voted in by the District Administrators from the EMEA Countries.
The Congress concluded with a organized visit to Minute Maid Park, where the Houston Astros defeated Florida Marlins, 4-3.
